Who are we?

Blue Ice Clothing was started 17 years ago by owner Franziska Rauch. She left her career as a designer in New York City’s textile industry to start a local business that pays fair wages and manufactures a product in her own neighborhood. Everything at Blue Ice is designed and made in Pine Hill, in the heart of New York state’s Catskill Mountains. When possible, Blue Ice uses recycled materials, both to help the environment and the local economy. Our goal at Blue Ice is to create a good selection of fleece clothing both for outdoor enthusiasts and for the casual user. The designs are inspired by the need to provide good combinations of clothing with technical features, as well as the need to accommodate constantly changing temperatures and weather conditions. Although our line originated with technical climbers in mind, it serves the casual outdoor enthusiast equally well. For beginners in any outdoor sport, appropriate clothing can often make or break a person's first experience in the field. Ideas for improving styles are continuously cropping up, whether they come on a morning walk with Luna the tireless puppy, ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies, or hanging out in a rustic Catskill Mountain home! Wherever these improvements originate, they always make things a bit more comfortable, make life a little easier and make activities a lot more enjoyable.
